The Ratanga Golf Centre, providing a new public golf practice facility with a range of other amenities in a relaxed and casual setting opens this Friday the 12th September on the former Golf Fanatics site at Century City.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, the Ratanga Golf Centre comprises a golf practice facility as well as the facility for pre-booked golf tutoring. Golf merchandise will also be sold at the centre.

Golfers as well as non golfers - particularly those looking to catch a drink after work and avoid the traffic - can also relax in an adjacent fun, relaxed pub, named Legends, and catch their favourite game on the large screen TV. “Attitude Adjustment” Happy Hour promotions will be promoted daily!

In addition, a new open-air venue, The Greens, will be available for informal corporate, team building and braai functions.

The new facilities are being run by the experienced management team of Cape Theme Parks which owns Ratanga Junction and who specialize in creating enjoyable, well serviced entertainment venues so be sure to get on down there for some hard earned, relaxed fun.

Welcome to the Century View Website

Hello. We have been having a challenging winter. On the positive side we are assured of fresh water supplies through this summer.

If you haven't been to the viewing deck in Heron Road do so without delay. The Retainer Pond has never been so full. The poor Spoonbills and Herons that spent months making their nests are all displaced now. The water rose too high.

The Egyptian geese and their goslings are a sight to see as they glide elegantly in the water. The Red Bishops sparkle with colour. The coots perform shallow dives and show just how territorial they are. They perform regular mock attacks just above the surface of the water. The sacred ibises are wonderful to behold as squadron after squadron make their landing each evening. One resident counted as many as 600 birds in the colony. The Herons and the Spoonbills will have to start all over again. And the cormorant has such sleek and attractive features. Have you seen one sunning itself?

The calendar says that spring 2008 is here. The weather doesn't agree. Anyway, the best time of year will soon be here. We tried in the past for all of us to do something collectively but there was no purchase from our fellow residents. We would like to arrange a Spring Walk on Sunday 5 October 2008. Are there any takers to help organise the event? And, is there anyone in Century View that has any interest in a fun morning and will turn up to participate? Please get in touch with Farouk.

Rholeen Jordaan is keen to start a Social Bridge Club. Her email address is rholeenjordaan@woolworths.co.za. Her cell number is 0833272774.

Finally, I am keen to be in touch with those who wish to have greater social interaction. I have been told that in our neighbouring complexes residents do not use the common amenities that are available to them. Are you of that view or would you like Century View to have amenities where people can interact socially and where children can participate in organised activities?  If you have any views in this regard email Farouk Cassim at: shen@iafrica.com.

Farouk.
